Busan Museum of Movies has acquired an incredible archive of Busan theater and
film history collected by Hong Young-chul, Director of the Korean Film Archive Research Institute.
Starting in 1971, Director Hong spent decades gathering materials related to Korean cinema and
theaters such as scripts, film magazines, theater documents, film reels, flyers, posters, and more.
His collection has grown to approximately 90,000 cataloged items.

This special exhibition celebrates the life and legacy of the late Hong Young-chul,
who devoted his entire career to finding, researching, and preserving Korean and
international film materials that were disappearing.
We're honoring his invaluable work in documenting Busan's cinema and theater history.

Based on his research into modern Busan theater history, this exhibition showcases the journey of Busan cinema
from the port opening era all the way to its rise as an international film city to this day.
Don't miss this chance to see the full scope of Busan's cinematic history.
